reachability vs. visibility

May 11, 2019

reachability vs. visibility

we have to position large touchscreen displays close to the driver so all the elements of the graphical user interface are reachable.

however, if we position the display too close to the steering wheel then the driver's hand will block part of the interface, hence reducing visibility of the interface.

the 15.6" display of the model 3 is the absolute maximum limit with landscape orientation (16:10).

is portrait the solution (e.g Volvo, Model S)? have we gone too far with displays?
